Isang Bakas,

Isang bakas ng isang masayang kahapon,

Bakas ng walang humpay na harutan, lambingan, at kulitan.

Nauwi sa pisikalan ngunit walang intensyon na magkasakitan,

Isang bakas ng isang masayang ala-ala.

Ala-ala na sa paglipas ng panahon ay kaysarap balik-balikan,

Ala-alang maibabalik ng namimiss na pagmamahalan.

 Isang bakas na sa paglipas ng panaho’y mawawala,

Gaya ng pagmamahalang unti-unting nananamlay.

Pasa na mas mabuti kaysa sa sugat,

Pagkat ang pasa ay namuong dugo lamang.

Di gaya ng sugat na kapag naglihom ay may bakas na maiiwan,

Bakas ng isang hindi malilimutang ala-ala.

Ala-ala na puno ng sakit at pagdurusa.

Ala-ala na ayaw ng balikan pa’t maranasan.

Ala-alang kay pait na wari mo’y di na malalampasan.

Ala-alang pati ang kasalukuyan ay hahabulin ng nakaraan.
